The Waikato river has always brought people together.

This particular stretch was once a thriving waka landing and a place of daily cultural activity. Nearby, the freshwater spring called Tekorokoro was known for its mystical healing properties.

In later years this site became a landing point for the river ferry that connected our pre bridge city. Then it transformed again, serving as a boathouse and rowing club for the last century.


Today it’s a new kind of meeting place.

It’s a place to come together, rest and refill, where effort and ease find rhythm. A place with its roots in the river, where the water moves and everything else can wait.

It is also still a boathouse.
